Will you make a life-changing difference to a "backyard dog" who is without protection from the sweltering summer sun by becoming a doghouse sponsor right now?
For more than 10 years, PETA's "Angels for Animals" program has provided dogs in desperate need of shelter from the elements with sturdy doghouses free of charge to their guardians. This vital part of PETA's work has helped hundreds of dogs in some of the most impoverished areas of southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina get the desperately needed shelter—and attention—that they might otherwise have never received.
The effect that "Angels for Animals" sponsors have on the lives of dogs like Mitzy can usually be seen as soon as PETA's fieldworkers approach the pups. Mitzy gleefully jumped around when she was given some badly needed affection by PETA staff, who also delivered a well-constructed new doghouse that will help keep her safe from the elements for many years to come. Before receiving her new house, Mitzy's only protection from the elements was a filthy, cobbled-together wooden shack that was on the verge of collapse, and the dirt patch that she was confined to was littered with boards.
PETA doghouse sponsors directly improve the lives of "backyard dogs" like Mitzy by allowing us to build sturdy doghouses for animals who desperately need shelter from both the record-breaking summer heat and the chilling winds and rain of winter. Along with their new houses, we offer these dogs a small measure of comfort by giving them a tie-out to replace their heavy chain, a toy, and even basic medical care, including spay/neuter surgeries as in Mitzy's case.
Like you, we know that no dog ever deserves to be left unprotected—particularly while chained or penned in a backyard. But when we can't convince or compel a guardian to allow a dog to live indoors as all dogs deserve to, PETA does all that we can to give the animal relief and safety from extreme weather.
Becoming an "Angels for Animals" sponsor online this summer couldn't be easier. Whether you are able to help cover the cost of delivering a doghouse today, would prefer to make a secure monthly installment donation, or are able to give only a small amount, every gift that you make to support this important program will immediately be put to work helping dogs forced to live in backyards.
It's remarkable how much a sturdy, PETA-built doghouse can improve the life of a dog like Mitzy. Will you help another dog like her right now by becoming a doghouse sponsor online today?
Very truly yours,
Ingrid E. Newkirk
