Meet Henna, a beautiful young horse who was found abandoned alongside a dusty road in India. She was in pain and limping from a large wound on her leg that had been neglected for so long that it had become infected and was full of maggots.
Animal Rahat veterinarians jumped into their ambulance and drove to help her. They tended to her horrific injury and, after being unable to locate her owner, moved her to a nearby sanctuary for retired working animals, where she's now free from the toil and neglect that so many working animals endure daily. But the ambulance that they use has seen better days and soon will have to be retired.
Chrishaun McDonald, when we sent out the call for help earlier this week, the response was overwhelming—and I'm delighted to tell you that we've raised the $15,000 that Animal Rahat needs for a new ambulance! We always need resources to maintain the vehicle and stock it with lifesaving supplies, without which we wouldn't be able to help the suffering animals who need us most. That's why we're increasing our goal to $30,000 to maintain, stock, and staff the ambulance for one full year. Will you please help PETA reach our new goal by making a generous gift online right now?
The speedy response of Animal Rahat's team of veterinarians and animal professionals made all the difference in the world to Henna, as it does for thousands of horses, bullocks, donkeys, and other working animals in India every year, many of whom would otherwise die from untreated infections that take over their bodies with septicemia.
Whether animals are suffering from crippling injuries, infections, lameness, or other serious and painful conditions that afflict so many working animals as well as animals turned loose on the streets, Animal Rahat is always on call to go to the scene and provide urgent care.
Animal Rahat is invariably the only source for medical care—and hope—for thousands of neglected and abused working animals in India's sugar mill district of Maharashtra. Villagers in these regions are desperately poor, and most are unable to give their animals even the most basic care, including fodder. This wonderful organization depends solely on compassionate people like you to help it provide working animals with quality veterinary care and spread awareness of basic animal welfare practices to prevent further suffering.
Every day, Animal Rahat ambulances crisscross this large region attending to animals in need. Each veterinarian handles more than 10 major cases per day, many of them emergencies in which time is of the essence. Getting there quickly can mean the difference between life and death and between excruciating pain and pain relief. Your gift today will help stock and maintain the newest ambulance and help save the lives of hundreds of individual animals.
Please donate right now, and help us meet our new goal of $30,000 to supply the new Animal Rahat ambulance for an entire year.
Thank you so much.
