This marketplace was created as part of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, and has the potential to drastically decrease health disparities among the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Over 16,000 California households have already completed applications in the first week. Have you enrolled? Equality California Institute is educating LGBT people and the public at large about issues impacting our community, and barriers to health care is one of the most important. That's why we launched our "Health Happens with Equality"/"La Salud Ocurre con la Igualdad" campaign to connect thousands of LGBT Californians with the resources needed to make informed health insurance decisions. The implementation of Obamacare means more protections for the LGBT community. The new law creates affordable options, bans discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, and guarantees coverage even if you have a preexisting condition such as HIV/AIDS or mental health concerns. Learn more about your health insurance options in one of the following ways: Visit Covered California's homepage and click "Start Here" to begin the enrollment process.Visit the California Endowment's website to get more information about what enrollment means for you.Need care now? These California clinics will help regardless of your insurance or documentation status.Do you know someone who's uninsured or underinsured? Forward them this email so that they can get the coverage they need!
