Yesterday, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld Senate Bill 1172, authored by Sen. Ted Lieu, which bans licensed therapists from attempting to change the sexual orientation or gender expression of patients under the age of 18. In the fall of 2012, Equality California filed a successful motion to intervene in one of the lawsuits to defend the law alongside California Attorney General Kamala Harris. Equality California was represented by our colleagues at the National Center for Lesbian Rights and the law firm of Munger Tolles & Olson, LLP. This is one of our most important victories ever and will literally save countless young LGBT lives. We thank Sen. Ted Lieu, Speaker John A. Pérez, our bill co-sponsors and the countless advocates who fought for this bill and made this legal victory possible, including YOU! With Gratitude,
