The U.S. Military Is Waging a Secret War on
"[Instructors] shot [a pig] twice in the face with a 9-millimeter pistol, and then six times with an AK-47and then twice with a 12-gauge shotgun. And then he was
set on fire."
Help stop this abuse.
All gifts will be MATCHED dollar for dollar until October 31!
There's a secret war being waged at military installations across the U.S. Live pigs and goats are shot, stabbed, and burned in grisly "live tissue training" meant to teach soldiers first aid in the field.
This so-called "training" isn't making our troops smarter or safer. Since the anatomy of pigs and goats is so drastically different from that of humans, the "knowledge" gleaned from ripping apart these gentle, sentient animals is worthless on the battlefield.
"Live tissue training" is crude, cruel, and unethical, but the military won't stop unless we force the Department of Defense to choose more humane, effective ways of studying trauma.
Please help us stop the war on animals.Donate now, and your gift will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $500,000!
What's even more tragic about all this is that nearly 80 percent of our NATO allies—and many American military facilities—agree that simulators are more effective than training on animals because they're more anatomically accurate and allow trainees to repeat procedures until they are proficient. The U.S. military even requires that simulators be used whenever available. But the Department of Defense continues to ignore science, ethics, and its own regulations and instead relies on shooting pigs and crudely hacking off the legs of goats with tree trimmers.
These animals are like you and me in all the ways that matter. Pigs and goats are social, sensitive, intelligent animals. They experience pleasure and pain, and they don't want to die. The one critical difference is that animals cannot defend themselves against these atrocities. It's up to you and me to stop the abuse.
We're campaigning hard to end this cruelty and have made great progress. And from now until October 31, every donation—up to $500,000—will be DOUBLED. Give now and help PETA do the following:
Launch hard-hitting undercover investigations and whistleblower exposés—the only way to let the public know what's really going on in the U.S. military
Pressure the Department of Defense through formal complaints, eye-catching protests, high-profile news interviews with PETA celebrity spokespeople, and sophisticated social-media campaigns to spread the news of these abuses far and wide
Expose EVERY abuse EVERY time it happens—so that no animal's suffering goes unnoticedPETA stands up to anyone—no matter how powerful—who abuses animals.
Help save pigs, goats, and so many other animals from horrifying, painful deaths in the U.S. military's crude training drills.
Don't wait another minute longer to make TWICE the impact for animals with our dollar-for-dollar match—animals need you!
Thank you for partnering with us to ensure that animals are treated with the compassion and dignity that we all deserve.
Very truly yours,
Ingrid E. Newkirk
