Help dogs like Lady find shelter from the elements this winter. Sponsor a PETA doghouse today!
Life for Lady extended no farther than the length of a short, heavy chain wrapped around her neck and held in place by a padlock. Her flimsy plastic doghouse was so small that her "guardian" had placed cinder blocks on its roof in a fruitless attempt to prevent it from tipping over whenever Lady tried to get out of the driving rain and frigid wind.
Thanks to the support of "Angels for Animals" doghouse sponsors, we were able to replace Lady's chain with a long, tangle-free tie-out and provide her with a sturdy new doghouse on a fresh patch of grass—it's probably the first adequate shelter that she has ever had.
Will you be an "angel" for a cold dog just like Lady this winter by sponsoring a doghouse right now?
Every day, "Angels for Animals" sponsors help dogs like Lady survive the harsh winter cold and the scorching heat of summer by providing them with the solid shelter of a PETA doghouse.
The "owners" of these "backyard dogs" never allow them indoors, no matter how harsh the weather is. Our fieldworkers have found many dogs who suffer from frostbite in winter and heat stress in summer. Often, they'll discover a cold dog curled up into a tight ball—trying in vain to ward off the freezing wind and bone-chilling sleet of winter.
For a lonely dog facing the winter outside in the bitter cold, PETA's doghouse program can truly mean the difference between life and death.
Of course, we want all guardians to allow dogs to live indoors as beloved family members, and PETA's persistent fieldworkers do everything they can to persuade people to do just that. But if we can't convince them to do so—and local authorities are unable or unwilling to act—we do all we can to provide each dog with care and attention, which is what every animal needs and deserves.
Your "Angels for Animals" gift will be put to work immediately to help more neglected dogs like Lady find the shelter from the elements that they need in order to survive.
There are few sights as heartwarming as that of dogs who have just received a real doghouse after years of suffering outside. Many of them literally jump for joy after their new doghouse is delivered and then immediately go inside and curl up. But even beyond the delivery of new doghouses and the replacement of heavy chains with lightweight and tangle-free tie-outs, the dogs helped by this important program receive a long-term commitment from PETA to return to check on their continued well-being.
This life-changing work begins with the compassion and generosity of supporters like you. Please help a neglected dog this winter by becoming an "Angels for Animals" doghouse sponsor today!
Thank you for your commitment to helping dogs—and all animals—in need.
