Give Chimps a Chance
Dear supporter,
Captive chimpanzees are currently not given the same level of protection under the Endangered Species Act as their wild counterparts, which allows their use and exploitation in invasive laboratory experiments, TV and film commercials, and the exotic pet trade. This lack of federal protection not only harms chimpanzees, but also seriously undermines conservation efforts for wild chimpanzees.
This could soon change thanks to a recent government proposal, in response to a petition led by The HSUS, that would list all chimpanzees as endangered and give them the maximum federal protections allowed by law.
August 12 is the deadline to submit comments -- contact the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service now and urge it to protect all chimpanzees by finalizing this groundbreaking new rule.
Thank you for all that you do for animals.
